'The chickens' map of Lake Serpentine

  1. This map is not only very detailed but shows a really good understanding of many aspects of the lake. Having a good cover of native marginal (edge) vegetation on a peat lake means that the nutrients can be filtered out of the water from the catchment before it reaches the lake. Our native sedges and rushes are good at growing along the edge and then the shrubs and trees can be planted further up on slightly drier ground.
